Extended Warranty Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

This Extended Warranty provides comprehensive repair or replacement coverage for Digital Departure Boards sold by UK Departure Boards LTD. The coverage applies in cases of Accidental Damage or Mechanical/Electrical Breakdown occurring after the expiration of any applicable manufacturer’s guarantee.

The warranty is valid for a one-year period from the date of purchase and is available at an annual cost (see Section 4 for pricing details).

The warranty terms are designed to offer peace of mind, ensuring uninterrupted functionality of your Digital Departure Board. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully, as they outline the scope of coverage, exclusions, and the process for making a claim.


2. Definitions

  • Administrator/We/Us/Our: UK Departure Boards LTD, a registered Limited Company in England and Wales under Co. Registered Number 12166351. Registered Office: 8 Great Meadow Road, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 8DA.
  • Insured Item: The specific Digital Departure Board described in the warranty certificate issued at the time of purchase.
  • Period of Cover: One (1) year from the date specified on your warranty certificate.
  • You/Your: The individual or organization listed as the insured party on the warranty certificate.
  • Accidental Damage: Any unforeseen and unintentional damage caused to the insured item that impacts its functionality, such as drops, impacts, or liquid exposure.
  • Negligent Mishandling: Improper or intentional misuse, neglect, failure to follow manufacturer guidelines, or unauthorized tampering with the item’s casing (not covered under this warranty).
  • Theft: Loss of the insured item through theft or other criminal activities (not covered).

3. Cover Description

This warranty provides coverage for repair or replacement due to the following:

3.1 Accidental Damage Cover

Coverage includes:

  • Repairs for damage caused by accidental incidents such as drops, liquid spills, or other accidental impacts that render the item non-functional.
  • The board needs to be carefully packaged and sent to our distribution centre for assessment and review.  Once inspected we will confirm whether the item can be repaired or needs replacing under the warranty scheme.

Exclusions:

  • Negligent mishandling, such as improper securing, intentional misuse, or unauthorised modifications and intentionally opening the casing or tampering with the software.
  • Theft, loss, or disappearance of the insured item.
  • Cosmetic damage (e.g., scratches or dents) that does not impair the functionality of the Digital Departure Board.

3.2 Breakdown Cover

Coverage includes:

  • Repairs for mechanical or electrical breakdown occurring during normal use, after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

Examples of covered failures:

  • Display or screen malfunctions.
  • Power supply failures.
  • Internal component malfunctions, such as processor or control board failures.

Exclusions:

  • Damage due to improper installation or failure to follow setup instructions.
  • Issues caused by viruses.
  • Intentionally tempering with the coding of the board or intentionally opening the casing.
  • Repairs or alterations performed by unauthorised technicians.

4. Pricing

The warranty is offered in three tiers, based on the model of the Digital Departure Board:

  • Desktop Departures Board: £27.75 (inc VAT) per annum.
  • Classic Departure Board: £45.00 (inc VAT) per annum.
  • Pro Departure Board: £57.75 (inc VAT) per annum.

The warranty must be purchased either at the time of item purchase or within 60 days of the purchase date.


5. How We Will Service Your Item

When a valid claim is made, we will provide service as follows:

  1. Repair the insured item at an authorised service center.
  2. Replace the insured item with an equivalent model if repair is not feasible.
  3. Issue a financial settlement up to the purchase price of the insured item.

6. How to Make a Claim

To file a claim, follow these steps:

  1. Contact Us: Reach out to UK Departure Boards LTD via [email protected] during business hours.
  2. Provide Documentation: Include proof of purchase, warranty certificate, and details of the fault or incident.
  3. Follow Instructions: Ship the item to our repair facility at your cost via a tracked service. You are responsible for the product until we receive it. Once we have repaired or replaced your board, you will be responsible for a return shipping fee of £3.20 per Desktop Departures board / £7.50 per Classic/Pro board (within the UK) outside the UK is on request.

Claims will be assessed promptly, and we aim to complete repairs or replacements within a reasonable timeframe.


7. Exclusions

This warranty does not cover the following:

  • Damage resulting from negligent mishandling or unauthorised modifications.
  • Theft or loss of the insured item.
  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect operational functionality.
  • Issues covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Repairs required due to improper installation, unauthorized repairs.
  • Routine maintenance, cleaning, or wear-and-tear.

8. Cancellation

You have the right to cancel the warranty under the following terms:

  • Within 30 Days: A full refund will be issued, provided no claims have been made.
  • After 30 Days: We are unable to refund the policy value.

9. Transfer of Warranty

The warranty is transferable to a new owner if the insured item is sold. Contact UK Departure Boards LTD with proof of ownership transfer to update the warranty details.


10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from this warranty will be resolved in English courts.

What is insured?

✔ Protection of your digital departure board from accidental damage (including impact damage).

✔ Breakdown of your product after the end of the manufacturer’s guarantee period.

✔ Unlimited repairs of your product (including parts, and labour).

✔ Replacement product (if we cannot repair it or determine that it is uneconomical to repair).

✔ Vouchers to the value of a replacement product (if we cannot reasonably arrange a replacement).

What is not insured?

✘ Loss, cosmetic damage, neglect, or deliberate damage.

✘ Costs arising from not being able to use your digital departure board or damage to other property.

✘ Costs for replacing any accessories (other than those provided with your product).

✘ Theft or attempted theft of the digital departure board.

✘ Damage resulting from improper installation or unauthorized repairs.

✘ Issues covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

✘ Product return shipping costs in either direction.

Are there any restrictions on cover?

! You must be at least 18 years old and a resident in the UK.

! Your digital departure board must be in good working order and less than 60 days old when this policy starts.

! This warranty must be purchased at the time of purchase or within 60 days.

! The warranty applies to items bought directly from UK Departure Boards LTD.

Where am I covered?

✔ Your digital departure board is covered under this policy while it is situated anywhere in the world; however, any repairs or replacements under this policy will only be carried out within the UK.

What are my obligations?

✔ To provide accurate and truthful information when making a claim.

✔ To install, maintain, and use the digital departure board according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

✔ To ensure the digital departure board meets relevant safety standards and is safe to work on.

✔ To ensure the digital departure board is packed and protected appropriately with insured shipping for transit back to us for repair.

When and how do I pay?

✔ The extended warranty is available at the following rates:
   – Desktop Departures Board: £27.75 per annum
   – Classic Departure Board: £45.00 per annum
   – Pro Departure Board: £57.75 per annum

✔ Payment must be made in full at the time of warranty purchase.

When does the cover start and end?

✔ Cover starts from the purchase date of your digital departure board or the purchase date of the warranty if bought within 60 days.

✔ Cover lasts for One (1) year from the date specified on your warranty certificate.

✔ If you receive a replacement product, the policy will end.

✔ If you receive a financial settlement, the policy will end.

How do I cancel the contract?
