Subscriptions
You can use all of our boards without a subscription for free, however if you want to enjoy some of the great extra features we've developed then you'll need to choose a subscription.
One subscription will cover all boards on your account.
Audio announcements require an active Premium subscription.
No, the board only comes with a USB cable that can be plugged into any USB socket, ie any phone charger or computer / laptop. Even tvs and cars. Basically if it has a USB socket you can plug it in.
Yes, the boards can be registered with any valid UK Departure Boards account not just the one the board was purchased on.
Remember the account the board does end up being registered with will need to have any optional voice packs or subscriptions purchased on it for the board to see these extra features.
You can also send any additional accounts gift vouchers if you don’t want to add payment information to the account itself.
Yes, the boards will pretty much connect to any WiFi network available as long as it supports a network name & password. If using a iPhone make sure the apostrophe is removed from the hot spot name this can be done via ‘Settings->General->About->Name’
No, only one active station is displayed at a time. But there Premium subscription features to make the board automatically cycle between different stations.
Yes we should do! We support all UK mainland stations including Ireland & Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. You can 100% find out by seeing if it is listed on our board web configuration app.
The board will talk to our servers via your WiFi connection and then talk to a variety of external data feeds to receive the relevant departure information.
Yes, the Desktop Departures is best suited for a bedside table or kitchen top. The Classic and Pros can be placed on top of furniture and come with mounting kits so they can be wall mounted as well.
Basically just the size, the Classic is 60cm and has an clear acrylic window and the Pro is 100cm. They both have the exact same functionality and run the same firmware.
If you have purchased a Desktop Departures, Classic Departure Board or board accessory you will receive an order note email from us with your Royal Mail tracking number, you will also receive tracking updates directly from Royal Mail via email / SMS. If you have purchased a Pro Departure Board you will receive tracking updates directly from DPD via email / SMS.
We support all heritage railways which have there timetables connected to HOPs, A complete list of supported railways can be found here. One note, For us to be able to display the railways departures they must upload there timetable to HOPs first! Not all railways do this! If yours does not, give them a nudge!
Yes, as long as you have access to WiFi the board will work. It will only show UK time and services though. The board comes with a uk style wall plug power supply which can be run on 110v to 240v. You can swap this with any local 5v 3amp dc jack wall plug with the correct plug for your country.
Yes, the easiest way to do this is select “Gift subscription” on the subscription product page and type in the email of the account you want to purchase the subscription for. If they don’t have an account already, it will create one for them and they can reset the password later. You will have full control over the gifted subscription and payment details.
You can also send gift vouchers to another account which can then be used towards a subscription. The initial 30 day free trial will need card details entered to be activated but no payment will be taken.
Yes, the free 30 day subscription trial will start from the day the subscription is purchased. You can purchase / cancel a subscription at any point after purchasing a departure board.
You can resubscribe to an existing subscription by going to the My Account section of the website. Then under ‘My Subscriptions’ find the subscription you would like to resubscribe to (usually the latest one) and click ‘Resubscribe’

No, these USB ports are for USB accessories only like speakers etc.. Do not try and power the board via these ports as this can potentially damage the board.
This is caused by the brightness settings being set to 0%. These can be adjusted via the web configuration on the ‘Device’ tab under ‘Device Display’ section.
The board is unable to connect to your network. Most common reasons for this are..
First time setting the board up
Check for incorrect network password (They are case sensitive)
When selecting your network from the network selection screen during WiFi setup make sure the selected networks name appears in the password pop up dialog / on the departure board screen SSID: label, if not repeat the WiFi setup process.
Check the router supports a 2.4ghz network and is on WiFi channel between 1 and 6 and any ‘smart channel swapping’ or ‘optimised network’ features are disabled.
Check the 2.4ghz network is using WPA2 and not WPA3.
Most new routers now support “Compatible Wifi” networks or legacy wifi networks for IOT devices. If it has this option enable this making sure its a 2.4ghz network on channel between 1 and 6 with WPA2.
Board has been running ok for a while
Try rebooting the router and then reconnecting the board back to it.
Using the router admin dashboard check the 2.4ghz WiFi channel is between 1 and 6 and any ‘smart channel swapping’ or ‘optimised network’ features are disabled as the number can randomly change and cause the board to disconnect.
The board completely refuses to connect
If the board completely refuses to connect to the network (very rare but does occasionally happen) One solution is to use a WiFi repeater or Wifi Extender to resolve this problem. The WiFi repeater will connect to your router and the board connects to the WiFi repeater. Another solution is to use a WiFi extender which can simply plug into your router via ethernet and create a new 2.4ghz WiFi network for the board to connect to.
We sell a cheap mini Wifi AP which can simply be plugged into your existing router which creates a new pre configured “UKDB-WiFI” network the boards can connect to.
The Classic / Pro can also be connected via Pro / Classic USB ethernet adaptors if the board is close to a router and you want a direct wired connection. You can also make this setup wireless via wireless ethernet extenders i.e. TP-Link AV1000.
If you are seeing this error when first connecting the board to your WiFi network, it is usually because the router has assigned the departure board an incorrect IP address. If the IP on the boot screen does not look like ‘192.168.0.X’ repeat the WiFi setup process by holding down the departure boards WiFi reset button. If you keep having this issue rebooting the router can help.
No, the departure boards only support WPA2. If your using a new router which defaults to WPA3, swap it back to WPA2.
If you have a ‘EE super hub pro’ It may need its “compatibility feature” enabling as this will create a special 2.4ghz network with WPA2. You can enable this using the follow guide
Log on to your hub dashboard
Click on the section called “wireless”
This will then bring up your “main wifi” NOTE, you won’t see compatible wifi until it is set up
Go into change settings
Enter your admin password
Go into compatible wifi
Change security type to WPA2-Personal
Then “save”
Connect the departure board to the new compatible wifi network
Press the WIFI reset button for 5 seconds to put the board back into WIFI setup mode. On Desktop Departures this is the little black button at the back. On the Classic it is the black button on the side near the power connector. On the Pro it is the green button on the side near the power connector. Once back in WiFi setup mode follow the installation instructions to connect the board to the new network.
The departure boards take 15-20sec to boot when plugged in. They will have a completely blank screen within this time window. There will be a lit green led on the end cap to indicate the board is receiving power. If you do not see this or the board does not boot after about 60 sec please contact support. Check you are using the original supplied 5v 3a power supply which came with the board.
If you are just seeing a spinning connecting icon.
First reset the board back into WiFi setup mode by press and holding the Wifi reset button, this can be found on the back of the Desktop Departures and the side of the Classic / Pro. Once the board has booted again try and connect back to the ‘DepartureBoard’ network.
Check your router is set to WPA2 and not WPA3 security.
First make sure you are connected to the ‘DepartureBoard’ Wifi network on the same device correctly (You can see a blue tick next to the network name and not a spinning connecting icon).
Refresh the page a few times, occasionally it does not load straight away and a page refresh brings it up.
Double check exactly 10.0.0.1:8080 has been typed into the devices browser. Make sure digit zero’s have been used not letter O’s.
Sometimes turning off the phones GSM/phone data can help.
Some antivirus software ie ‘Intego’ etc.. can block the 10.0.0.1:8080 url, try temporarily disabling them.
The boards can struggle with some newer Android devices, We recommend using iPhones / Laptops where possible.
Try moving to a room without lots of other wifi devices, occasionally other noisy wifi device interference can upset the boards setup communication. Once setup is complete you can move the board back to the original room.
Some networks (ie UNI etc..) will need to whitelist a devices MAC address before it can connect. The easiest way to find this is by putting the departure board into its WiFi setup mode then connecting to it via a phone or laptop and then clicking on the ‘DepartureBoard’ network settings and viewing its MAC address. You can also do this via windows and check the MAC address via the `arp -a` command via windows shell/command prompt.
You can find your serial number on the boards boot screen when you first turn the board on once its initialized. Or if it is already turned on, simply tapping the WiFi reset button will display the serial on the screen briefly as well.

Arrived on time - 60cm version - looks great, easy to set up. Dont need a sub to get it set up as I want but some options are extra so you want want to double check if you really want it set up in a particular way (which they are very open about so no problem or issue with that).
Had a small difficulty setting up (due to my old age and numpty status). A quick call solved everything, giving me hours of pleasure being virtually moved to far off stations, aswell as keeping up to date with local areas. Should have bought one ages ago.
Excellent product and outstanding quality! The live announcements and data brought my room to life, and setup was very simple. Just a warning for EU buyers: be prepared for customs duties since it ships from the UK. I paid more than 100 euros in import taxes. Hopefully, the seller can find a way to dispatch orders from within the EU to avoid these heavy costs for international customers.
Got bought this as a birthday present and it’s the best gift I've had in 50 odd years. Mostly I leave it on one busy bus stop where I live and work but I do swap it around a bit for buses, trains and the tube. It’s an awesome bit of kit that usually provokes interest when people come in my office where it’s situated.
Great product. Really fun to look at and a great talking point and gimmick. Really handy for offices as you can add custom text to. Shame so much is a premium paid option but still good nonetheless
I have a pro departure board at home which is 100 cm long and this is an excellent kit! Really like those RGB dot matrix LED lights and is amazing! I also have the Elinor Hamilton both National Rail and Underground announcement packs and they are so realistic! I love them! Also, Wi-Fi setup was easy too, I just connect my device to the DepartureBoard network and enter my Wi-Fi details and done! That's also a very easy setup, and very simple! I rate this 5 stars and keep going with those new tweals, features and much more UK Departure Boards!
This is the most unique tool to follow trains in real time around Great Britain. It is extremely easy to set up and to change stations around the country. Customer service is unbelievably helpful, even for those of us who live overseas. The Departure Board also shows train consists and a host of other useful features.
What an absolute excellent item. Can't praise it enough. It has everything, everything you want from a destination board it has attention to detail is amazing. Highly recommend getting one if you haven't already
I have three Departure Boards, and i just bought another. So i tried the new app, to set up my new board, and it worked really well, it took just a few clicks, and a couple of minutes to do, and presto it was really easy. I have 4 voice packs, and it took about 25 or minutes or so, to fully download, but no hassle all the work is done for you. Now i am not geek, and do not work anything technical well, so i am sure it might need some thing more, that i do not know, but, i played around with it, and so far all is well. This app is much easier to set up, well done, and a big thank you, to Russell, and the guy's, at UK Departure Boards.
Absolutely belting! Truly one of my favourite EVER purchases...love it. I bought it as a treat to myself; It's on constantly at home and I can switch the announcements off if needs be, though they are fantastic. Easy to set up and use. Love taking trips to random stations and seeing where it takes me! You really don't need to be a train nut to enjoy one of these. The customer service is immense too. I would highly recommend.Worth every penny. A Great British classic!
I’ve been wanting to buy a departure board for quite some time now and got one as an early Christmas present. I have it mounted near to where I sit and I’m over the moon with it, it’s definitely one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever had!
Ordered my desktop board and it came the following day. Excellent service and amazing piece of kit. Would be nice to add all the station stops on London Underground as it does on National Rail but that is just nit picking.

I had always wanted to buy this product when I first heard about it, but now that I have it, I couldn't be happier. I love trains and always love train announcements. I did have some probs setting up the Desktop Departures® Board on my home network as the Board needs an internet 2.5 GHz connection to work. I had to reset my router back to the default settings. I also found I got quick support when I needed it. If you love trains, buy this board.
Absolutely amazing, just love the idea and design of the board, I currently have the Classic Departure Board and it is just amazing showing what I like. Well done UK Departure Boards!
I like my ukdepartureboard as it is a great gadget as when I go out everyday, I can look at my departure board to see when the next train time is. I also like the different voice packs you can purchase
On our Making Tracks layout we’ve got 3 fantastic departure boards, the large one showing real time information from Milton Keynes Central and 2 medium boards showing the destinations of our model trains – simply magical!
Railcam UK and UKDB have for many years been providing our little departure board widget, buried deep within our live signalling diagrams. The physical boards are the next level though and we recommend them wholeheartedly to any gadget freak or rail enthusiast (or both).
Great destination board, even the smaller and medium sized ones are light years ahead of the other manufacturer’s boards. Don’t go for another type – you won’t regret the OG version!
